Course Content

There is a strong practical element to the course which is underpinned by academic processes. The core unit focus on developing an understanding of the performing arts industry and research skills. Practical work begins with a focus on building skills in areas such as voice, acting styles and writing. These practical and academic skills are then applied to a number of performance projects. The course is structured into eight units.

Assessment Method

Assessment is through assignments to be completed throughout the year. These will take a variety of formats including: presentations, written assignments, recorded discussions, practical demonstrations, rehearsal journals, research tasks, evaluations and performances.

Progression Opportunities

This course could lead to a career in acting for stage, screen or radio. It also leads directly into further study at higher level in subjects such as Acting, Drama, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, Drama Therapy and Education. The course provides a range of transferable skills which would be useful in a wide range of careers, including: teaching, youth and community work, presenting, marketing, customer service and journalism.

Entry Requirements

BTEC Level 4 HNC Performing Arts is a pre-requisite for this course. / International students must meet the general entrance requirements for admission to any College First Degree, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma. / English language requirements for international applicants is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE – Pass at Level 3 also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
