Description

Advanced Automotive Engineering has been identified as a key area for economic growth in Northern ireland. A BTEC Diploma in Engineering is designed to equip Learnerss with the knowledge and understanding required for success in a range of mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering occupations. This qualification includes a selection of Automotive Technology units for Learners of engineering who have a particular interest this area.

Course Content

Delivery will be on a fulltime basis. To successfully achieve this qualification a Learners must complete all units. Assessment is by means of a series of internally set assignments and projects. Learners will also study EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 in Subsidiary Diploma in Vehicle Technology as part of this two year programme.

Assessment Method

As a practically focussed, vocational course, assessment will be primarily carried out by the use of projects and coursework assignments throughout the duration of the course. These will offer opportunities to achieve Pass, Merit, and Distinction criteria, and will be tracked though the year to form one final grade for each unit, and an end of year grade for the overall course, giving UCAS points in the same way as A-Level grades.

Progression Opportunities

This qualification is equivalent to 3 'A' Levels and upon completion Learners can choose to progress to higher level education (HND or University Degree courses) in areas such as: Mechanical Engineering; Automotive Engineering; Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Computer Science; Clean Technologies; Computer Games Development etc. Alternatively Learners may wish to seek employment upon completion of this course. Possible areas of employment include CAD Draughtsperson, Engineering Tecchnician.
