Course Content

Modules studied during the two year course include: Performing to an Audience; Variety Performance; Singing Techniques and Performance; Auditions for Actors; Applying Acting styles; Developing Voice for the Actor; The Practice of Directing Theatre; Rehearsing for Performance. Through the College's links with the Burnavon, learners will have real experience of rehearsing and performing in a theatre. As the course, by nature, is very practical, relying on interaction and collaboration, learners are required to exercise and demonstrate the skills that employers value – teamwork, communication, commitment, planning and creativity.

Assessment Method

Assessment will be carried out through the practical performances and written assignments throughout the duration of the course.

Progression Opportunities

Progression from this course may be to a range of higher education courses in the performing arts and/or in other disciplines. Progression directly into employment or self-employment is also an option.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs, grade C or above. Successful audition and interview. Consideration will be given to learners who do not meet the entry requirements but who can demonstrate experience and commitment to the performing arts. Learners will be required to purchase rehearsal clothing at the start of the course.
