News Story KNX Certificate

The Dungannon Campus of South West College is one of two independent Certified Centres for KNX training in the UK and is the only training centre in Northern Ireland.

The course is designed to offer small groups of 4-6 delegates; individual, specialised, intensive training in KNX (formerly known as EIB) building automation system. This 5 day course provides training in the design, installation and commissioning of a KNX system and is delivered by an experienced tutor.

KNX is the basis for all home automation applications.

Heating
Automatic and optimized heating control according to room usage or the inhabitants’ needs.

Display
Presentation and operation of all systems in the house via a wall mounted display. Easy visualisation and integration of audio-systems and monitoring cameras.

Ventilation
Windows will be opened according to requirements. The ventilation system reacts to the presence of people in the room.

Security
Reporting of open or broken windows and doors, burglary, smoke emission etc. – if desired also via telephone or via the internet – camera monitoring of the entrance.

Blinds
Control of blinds and shutters dependant on wind, brightness and rain or according to a scheduler

Emergency
Deterrence of potential break-ins by switching on the entire home lighting system (panic mode).

Lighting
Central lighting controlled in the house and garden. Choice of different lighting scenarios or individual dimming.

Travelling
Simulation of an occupied home through control of lighting and blinds.

 

Audio
Remote control from anywhere in the house; the desired music in every single room.

Everyday life
Daily time control of lighting, heating, ventilation, blinds etc.

KNX is the only system that complies with the requirements of the European (EN50090) and the International (ISO/IEC 14543) standards for Home Automation.

News Story The Innotech Centre

InnoTech is an exciting venture by South West College. Our aim is to nurture and grow innovation and technology through four key concepts:

  • We are creating partnerships with other colleges, businesses and organisations outside Northern Ireland that have adopted innovation and believe in the Art of the Possible.
  • We are helping local business embrace innovation through high grade knowledge exchange and technology development to build an all- pervasive Thinking, Creating and Doing attitude.

The South West College operates in four campuses in Cookstown, Dungannon, Enniskillen and Omagh and, of the six new area based colleges, it is the smallest in size, but arguably, covers the largest geographical area of counties Tyrone and Fermanagh.
